Bill Nelson’s Red Noise
Just been having a bit of a nostalgia trip having dug out my copy of Bill Nelson’s Red Noise LP, “Sound On Sound”. I bought the LP on its release back in 1979 and what a great LP it is! Bill was clearly looking to move in to New Wave music after the classic rock of Be Bop Deluxe and he does it superbly. Dystopian imagery, angular riffs and cracking energy – sounds at times like a cross-over between The Stranglers and Devo. Just the one album and a few great singles (Furniture Music and Revolt Into Style) before the band folded and Bill moved on to his solo career. Highly recommended.
